Excitement building for Mouth of the Tyne Festival 2023

Excitement is building for this year’s Mouth of the Tyne Festival, following the announcement of two music icons for this year’s event.

Punk icon Siouxsie is an Ivor Novello award-winning musician who brings over 40 years of hits from her ground-breaking career with Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Creatures, and as a solo artist.

Her show at Tynemouth Priory and Castle on Friday 7 July will be one of her first UK shows for a decade.

Special guests on the night are LYR, an ambient rock band comprised of author and current British poet laureate Simon Armitage, singer-songwriter Richard Walters and multi-instrumentalist & producer Patrick Pearson.

Gabrielle is one of the most successful soul singers of her generation. She scooped two BRIT awards and MOBO Awards for Best Single (‘Give Me A Little More Time’) and Best Album (‘Rise’). After being nominated on five separate occasions, she won her first Ivor Novello Award in 2008 when she was honoured with the prestigious accolade for Outstanding Song Collection.

The chart-topping singer songwriter will perform on Sunday 9 July at the spectacular location.

Gabrielle said: “I can’t wait to party with everyone at Tynemouth and celebrate the record that launched my career three decades ago! Time sure does fly when you are having fun.”

Mouth of the Tyne Festival, supported by Capita and Port of Tyne, returns this July with special outdoor concerts at Tynemouth Priory and Castle, a programme of free street entertainment, huge community parade and special intimate shows at Playhouse Whitley Bay. Follow the event on Facebook for all the latest developments.

More artists will be added to the Sunday afternoon line-up soon with announcements on the Priory’s evening concerts coming in the next few weeks.
