Return of Free Holiday Clubs This Easter

Free holiday activity and food clubs are set to return to South Tyneside this Easter for eligible children and young people. The programme offers a wide range of fun activities, including dance, bowling, crafts, sports, and outdoor challenges, along with nutritious meals at each event.

Funded by the Department for Education, the schemes are being delivered by the Council and its partners. Places are free to those aged between five and 16 (age 18 for those with special needs or disabilities) who receive benefit-related free school meals. The clubs will run at various venues across the Borough between Saturday 1 April and Sunday 16 April.

Councillor Adam Ellison, Lead Member for Children, Young People and Families, said: “We know that families are under intense pressure at the moment so we hope this scheme brings some much-needed relief.

“While we would like to make these clubs available to everyone with children, the criteria  laid down by the Department for Education is that children must be in receipt of benefits-related free school meals. We are operating on a trust-based booking system which will hopefully allow those who will really benefit from these free activities and meals to access them.”

The clubs are being run at various venues throughout the Borough and places must be booked in advance. To find out more about the clubs or to book a place visit www.southtyneside.gov.uk/holidayclub or email HAF@southtyneside.gov.uk
